What is the Data Spaces Kit?

El Data Spaces Kit It is part of the Spanish government's subsidized programs that seek to promote digitalization in companies. Through this kit, SMEs can access financial aid to integrate digital solutions that allow them to manage and optimize their data securely and efficiently. The initiative is part of the digital transformation of the country, supporting the creation of essential technological infrastructures for companies.

Scope

Sectoral data spaces deployed in the Sectoral Data Spaces Promotion Plan (PIEDS), the National Health Data Space, the Regional Health Data Spaces, and those identified in the Data Directorate-General's Trusted Data Spaces List. Or in the Data Spaces catalog accessible on the "Accelerate SMEs" platform.

Data Space Kit Requirements

Company that meets the following criteria:

  • Have a tax domicile in the European Union and have a valid VAT number.
  • Be up to date with tax and Social Security obligations.
  • Not being subject to an aid recovery order.
  • Not to be subject to the other prohibitions.
  • Be registered with the IAE for a minimum of six months.
  • Not to exceed the de minimis aid limit.

Eligible Actions

  1. Strategic Definition: Identifying opportunities, selecting data space and use cases, developing the business plan, and making investment decisions.
  2. Legal compliance: Management of legal and regulatory requirements, assessment of compliance with European regulations (GDPR, Data Act, etc.) and identification of gaps and risks.
  3. Data Preparation: Data preparation and creation of data products, and making metadata and data available for sharing.
  4. Technical Implementation: Adaptation of the architecture, infrastructure (hardware and software), and technical connection to participate in a use case.

eligible costs

The expenses must have been incurred from the date of publication of the regulatory bases (July 16, 2025) and end on June 30, 2026.

1. Own personnel expenses: Technical personnel directly involved (gross remuneration and social costs). Maximum limit of twenty (20) workers.

2. Expenses for contracting services: Business, legal and technical advice (including negotiation and drafting of the adhesion contract).

3. Product acquisition costsSoftware products for data preparation and connection (connectors, governance/metadata management tools, data processing/discovery/analysis tools, products for use case deployment).

Subscription licenses are eligible for funding for a maximum of one year if payment is made before the application is submitted. Eligible activities cover the entire integration cycle, from identifying the business opportunity and legal requirements to data preparation and technical connection.

Non-eligible costs

  • Hardware, telecommunications/Internet connectivity services, data purchases, data space participation quotas.
  • Infrastructure expenses, civil works, land.
  • Office products, operating systems, databases, non-specialized business management software (ERP, CRM, BI), general purpose cloud computing/storage credits.

Beneficiaries of the Data Space Kit

Public and private entities, regardless of their legal form, that carry out an economic activity, that have their own legal personality and tax domicile in the European Union.

It is aimed at entities with a high degree of digital maturity in the use of data and artificial intelligence, with a level of maturity considered "disruptive." They must have achieved effective or advanced integration into an eligible data space.

Excluded

UTES, self-employed individuals, civil partnerships, joint ownership communities, owners' associations or other economic units without legal personality.

Amount of the aid for the Data Space Kit

Maximum Individual Amount (100% of eligible expenses)

Private/public entities with economic activity (Art. 7.1): Up to € 15.000 (effective incorporation) Up to € 30.000 (advanced effective incorporation)

Public Administrations (Art. 7.2): Up to € 25.000 (effective incorporation) Up to € 50.000 (advanced effective incorporation).

The aid payment is made as a single payment immediately after the grant decision.

Electronic application and responsible declarations (compliance with requirements, DNSH, de minimis, no double funding, DACI).

Simplified Justification AccountIt is submitted along with the application. It includes the supporting report (detailing activities carried out, alignment with Art. 16, and results obtained) and the classified list of expenses.

Evidence of Effective/Advanced Incorporation: Contract of adhesion (signed by the promoter and the applicant with a qualified/advanced electronic signature), evidence of identity in the data space registration, and, if applicable, evidence of publication of the data product in the catalog.
